Bain Capital is in the final stage of bidding for Trans Maldivian Airways, a Maldives-based seaplane subsidiary of Blackstone Group, according to sources.

Trans Maldivian Airways has one of the world’s biggest seaplane fleets, which carries visitors from the country’s international airport to luxury resorts islands.

Bain Capital has formed a consortium with the Tempus Group, a China-based logistics and transport services firm to bid for the airliner, and valued the target at around US$500m.

Blackstone is expecting to reach a deal agreement by the end of 2017.
