In a mid-market move that will strengthen its presence in the US professional hair care market, the German consumer goods manufacturer Henkel is to acquire Zotos International, the North American hair professional business belonging to Japan’s Shiseido.
Connecticut-based Zotos is being acquired for a price tag of US$485m in a deal that marks Henkel’s third acquisition in the US professional hair care market in recent years.
Zotos, which includes the hair care brands Joico and Zotos Professional, manufactures hair care, texture service and hair colour products for salons and salon professionals and reported sales of about US$230m during 2016 and employs around 700 people.
